Told You So

Remember O-Glo? That "smart" gel blush that Smashbox was trying to convince us is so wonderful and flattering to everyone because it adjusts to our skin?
I wasn't impressed and neither was Kristen, the Beauty Addict. Now we have The BeautyBrains backing us up on the science behind this product. It's not us, it's them, and it has nothing to do with applying it right.

Mossy

One of the Beauty Addict's posts last week as part of her excellent Fashion Week coverage was from the Jason Wu show. The makeup featured was all MAC and inspired by Kate Moss. Kristen is quoting a MAC makeup artist who defined this Mossy look as " very overstated, messy, disheveled".
My question is: Who wants to look like that?

Into the Dark

October is nail polish month at Blogdorf Goodman. We all seem to be going darker and darker, though I'm still not caving in for anything black. It looks like I'm not the only one who was seduced by the powers of Essie's Wicked. I've blogged about it last week and have been sporting it since, just like the Beauty Addict. It's the darkest color I've ever worn on my nails, and I absolutely love it. It's definitely more elegant than goth, which is a very good thing once you're of a certain age. I second Kristen's advice about keeping nails short. The color has more than enough personality by itself, no need for milage.

The other color I bought last week was Essie's Double Dip. I was hoping for a chocolate, but the color sample on the site was misleading. It's a pretty metalic medium red, that today looks very nice on my toes. But it's definitely not what I was looking for. So in my quest for that perfect brown, I'll be trying next Estee Lauder's Dark Chocolate.

Monyette Paris

The Hot Pack sample set I bought last week from Luckyscent had many interesting goodies, including  Monyette Paris, a fragrance that was just reviewed by the Beauty Addict . It's always interesting to compare a product review to my own experience, especially when it comes to fragrance. Body chemistry, taste and even memories are what makes our impression of a perfume; And it varies a great deal from person to person.

Upon opening the vial and taking the first whiff I was strongly reminded of my mom's eternal Chloe (my mother and her one-fragrance devotion are worthy of a separate entry). It was the heady gardenia and maybe some other white flowers, but the scent took a turn towards sweetness and incense, so I didn't mind so much.

I'm not used to using a perfume oil, especially in a vial (but that's just the sample. The real thing comes as a roll on, so there won't be cleavage drippage). It took Monyette Paris a few minutes to set until I could get the feel of it.

All I can say that it was lovely. There's depth, warmth and a sense of fun. I'm a vanilla girl, so whatever is in the base works very well. It's sweet but not foody and unlike many other tropical perfumes, it's free of fruit.
I loved it. My husband also approved even though he didn't find Monyette Paris very sexy. He thought it was cute and summery.  It's a winner, and I'm going to buy the entire range- including body wash and lotion. I'll pass on the candle, though. You can't really have burning things in a house that's run by eight cats.

Monyette Paris can also be purchased from BeautyHabit.
