Oscars 2010 - Paula Patton Makeup - How To ?

Orange is one of my most favorite colors and Paula Patton looked ravishing in the orange dress ! Her face was bronzy gorgeousness created by makeup artist Mylah Morales

"For Paula Patton’s Oscar beauty look I started by applying Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil to clean up her skin and create an ideal canvas for foundation application. Next I applied Giorgio Armani Foundation and set the foundation with a sheer layer of COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder followed by COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer for a gorgeous, bronze glow.

To accentuate and enhance Paula’s stunning orange dress, I focused on gold and brown shades for her eyes. I applied gold powder shadow in the corners of her eyes followed by a layer of COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire over her lid for a gorgeous red carpet eye look. I completed her eye look with a few swipes of COVERGIRL LashBlast Length Mascara for dramatic, ultra-long lashes.

For Paula’s lips, I kept them pretty natural and used a peachy shade of gloss that matched her natural lipcolor. To complete Paula’s overall look I applied NARS Blush in Taj Mahal followed by Shu Uemura Facial Hydration Mist to lock-in Paula’s makeup and help it last her through the night."

Tips For Getting Celebrity Gorgeous At Home : How To ?

At the Oscars this year we've seen everything from glowing skin to smoky eyes and perfect pouts. Helping perfect those looks was Bruce Grayson, Makeup Department Head for the Academy Awards. As the lead artist for the Academy Awards, Grayson works with Hollywood’s top talents and is an expert at creating an award-winning look.

And now he’s sharing his star-worthy tips for getting celebrity gorgeous at home with us ! Its really not half as complicated as one would think !

Tip #1: Prep Your Skin

It’s important to prep your skin a few days before a big event. In addition to drinking lots of water and eating a healthy diet, the key to glowing skin is following a strict skincare regimen. For pre-event prep, try the Olay Professional Pro-X Intensive Firming Treatment ($62) – this two step kit combines a hydrating mask and tightening serum. Packed with an effective blend of anti-aging ingredients, it works to firm skin by helping restore its natural fullness, elasticity and tension.

Tip #2: Get Glowing

Fabulous makeup starts with a flawless canvas (aka your skin!). To get blemish-free skin, opt for a foundation that delivers the perfect level of pigment, such as the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($59). Using the Giorgio Armani Foundation Brush ($51), apply with short quick strokes and paint your way to complexion perfection.

Tip #3: Get Smoky With The Eyes

Get sultry, gorgeous eyes by creating a smoky look. First, you want to combat any dark undereye circles with the Olay Regenerist Anti Aging Eye Roller ($22.99). Gently glide the pen under your eyes and voila – puffiness disappears in just 30 seconds and there is an obvious reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. Next, use the CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blast ($7.49), a double-ended stick, available in six luxurious shades. Sweep the rounded end of the shadow all over the lid and use the angled end along the lash line and crease for bold definition.

Tip #4: Perk Up Your Cheeks

Add dimension to the face and cheeks with soft blush in a pink or peach shade. If you prefer some shimmer, go with Nars Orgasm ($26). If you prefer no shimmer, try Cargo Catalina ($26). To apply, simply dust the apples of your cheeks with a big, fluffy brush, blending outward toward the hairline.

Tip #5: Create Kissable Lips

To get the perfect pout, it’s important to prep the lips with a conditioner. Not only will this hydrate the lips, but it will allow the color to stay longer. Start with Karite Lip Balm ($8.50), an all natural shea butter formula that moisturizes and protects. Next, apply a red lipstick, such as YSL Rouge Volupte in Red Temptation ($34) or a coral shade, like Mac Lipstick in Vegas Volt ($14). To define the lips further, apply a liner, such as Nars Lipliner Pencil in Jungle Red ($20). Set the color in place with a high shine gloss – try Mac Clear Lip Glass ($14) or Nars Lip Gloss in Triple X ($24).

Kajol Makeup

I thought Kajol looked particularly stunning on this cover of Asian Woman Magazine !

Given that its a spring issue - the makeup is spot on !

Springs are all about peaches and pinks on your lips and cheeks ! Store away your reds, wines, burgundy shades and pull out your peaches, corals and pinks from hiding ! For the eyes - nothing is more springy than colored eyeliners. Bright greens, teals, blues replace dark blues and blacks in my stash.

For Kajol's Look :
Face
1. Start off with a light moisturizer
Rec : Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel / Aveeno Positively Smooth Facial Moisturizer
2. Follow up with a tinted moisturizer or a foundation with sheer to medium coverage.
Rec : Hard Candy Tinted Moisturizer / Smashbox HD Foundation

Eyes
1. Do your brows and apply a satin peach shadow on your lids.
Rec : MAC Samoa Silk / MAC Paradisco Eyeshadow
2. Line your upper lash line with a deep brown powder shadow and smudge it along the length of your lash line for a soft finish.
Rec : MAC Charcoal Brown / Folie Eyeshadow
3. Run a bright green eyeliner along your lower lash line and waterline. Or you could do a brown along the waterline.
Rec : Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner - Covet
4. Curl your lashes and apply a lengthening mascara
Rec : Cover Girl Lash Blast Length

Cheeks
1. Apply a matte/ satin peach blush on your cheeks.
Long face - go for the apple of your cheeks
Round face - Go upward and outward from the hollow of your cheeks (do a fish face to find the hollow) towards your temples.
Rec : Smashbox Reign Blush ( my forever favorite peach blush) / MAC Sheertone Blush - Peaches

Lips
1. Apply a peachy coral lipstick and follow with a clear lip gloss
Rec : Smashbox Lip Pencil - Amaretto / MAC Ravishing Lipstick

Hairstyle Or Lack

What is this ?

Am I not liking it just coz its not a very regular one or is it weird for you too ?

Of course then the question arises...Are we both not liking it just coz its not a very regular one ?

Oscars 2010 : Maggie Gyllenhaal Makeup

I love Maggie Gyllenhaal ! I really really love Jake Gyllenhaal too but that's another story for another time. How cute is Maggie - with the flowy spring dress and the bright fuchsia lipstick !

Read on for Maggie's makeup breakdown by COVERGIRL celebrity makeup artist, Molly R. Stern. We'll also learn how important it is to prep and moisturize the skin before laying makeup on it !
"Maggie is the muse of spring. Her Dries Van Noten gown is a swirl of bright colors that fades into white. For her makeup I wanted to bring out the color of her eyes with some depth while keeping with the brightness of her overall style.

We started off the look by refreshing the skin with Jurlique Rose Water spray. Then I prepped the skin with Shu Uemura red: juvenus vitalizing concentrate and lightly moisturized with La Mer moisturizing lotion.

For a flawless complexion I primed Maggie's skin with COVERGIRL & Olay Simply Ageless Serum Primer (out in July!!).

Then I lightly applied some Chantecaille future skin foundation in the color 'cream' only where she needed it. Then lastly I dusted La Mer powder foundation in 'Ivory' to set the skin for the big night.

For her amber peachy cheeks I used COVERGIRL & Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Rich Cinnamon. And dusted some NARS 'dolce vita' blush on the apples.

For Maggie's eyes of layered copper smoke I based her eye with COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire. Next I deepened her lid with NARS soft touch shadow pencil 'skorpios'. Then I blended into the crease Shu Uemura pressed eye shadow 'p brown 810' and lastly I lightly dusted Shu Uemura pressed eyeshadow in 'n me brown 860' all over the lid for a golden finish. For the undereye, I resmudged the COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast under her lash line to bring out the blue of Maggie's eyes. Finally I defined her lashes by combining brown and black mascara. I painted the lashes with both colors using COVERGIRL LashBlast Length for perfectly flirty long lashes.

On Maggies lips I applied NARS 'schiap' lip color –it was the perfect shade to finish off the look. Its bright hue matches Maggie's vibrant sense of style and confidence.

The finished product was perfection. She looked like herself. Authentic, cool and beautiful. Being a part of Oscar day with a nominee is such an honor. It's like an actress' wedding day with Hollywood. I love being here. I feel so blessed."

Beyonce Makeup Inspiration : Orange - Coral Lips

What do you think of Beyonce sporting the super 'in' orangey-coral lips ? Is this spring or what ! I think I like it. Just wish the MUA hadn't lined her lips outside her natural lip line. Nevertheless, what a pretty face !

What I absolutely love is the thick winged eyeliner ! Will do some of that this weekend !

The Real Raccoon

People often give Kareena a hard time about her kajal rimmed eyes - its hardly raccon-ish according to me. I love the kajal effect !

The real raccoon however is Taylor Momsen. I understand her rock get up but really is that black shadow under her nostrils ? Can one get high on eye shadows ? The color is just bleeding out of her eyes...

Oscars 2010 : Miley Cyrus Makeup

Makeup inspiration can come from anywhere - even from Miley Cyrus ! I absolutely loved her makeup at the Oscars this year.

On her eyes was a simple white gold with a hint of brown at the outer corner, Va va voom lashes and black eyeliner.
Rec : Smashbox Eyelights Shadow Trio - beam ( pale gold / peach / brown)
Ardell Lashes #301
NYC Eyeliner Pencil - Black

A simple shimmery pink gloss added a hint of shine to her lips.
Rec : Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss - Candy (Shimmery Candy Pink)

Cheeks looked fresh with a golden pink blush.
Rec : Smashbox Blush Rush - Chiffon ( warm golden pink)

Mariah Carey Lipgloss

I love Mariah ! No matter how crazy she gets - I still like her a lot. Her songs form the 90's filled my teenage years. Her new songs don't appeal to me at all but the oldies Always be my baby & All I want for Christmas - I love them even more now .

What is your favorite Mariah song ?
Geeting back to beauty bidness ...following Smashbox Cosmetics on Twitter I got the deets on her lip gloss at the ISA - Independent Spirit Awards.

Eliza Dushku Inspired Makeup Look

Though the look was mega sexy , its a fairly easy look to do by yourself.
Find more pictures from this shoot, along with lip look recommendations to go with all this sexiness ! Now onto the tutorial...

Products Used & Description
1. Moisturize eyes, apply concealer all over lid / under eyes.
2. Make a V at the outer corner using an angled eyeliner brush and a black cream / gel eyeliner.

Jennifer Love Hewitt - Looking Good

Golden Globe Awards - Julie Benz Makeup

Celebrity Makeup Artist, Kelsey Deenihan for Dexter’s Julie Benz

Inspiration:

“The Golden Globes is clearly one special occasion and Dexter's leading lady, Julie Benz, couldn't risk having anything but a prefect glowing complexion on that red carpet. When deciding what look Julie was going to be wearing at the Globes this year, her fashion stylist, Joey Tierney, and I talked about a pretty, muted, monochromatic look. Julie's dress is champagne color and we wanted to keep the makeup pretty subtle with some highlights to just bring out a little sparkle.”

Oscars 2010 : Amanda Seyfried's Hair - How To ?

Among the several updo's that were frizzy and floppy ( SJP, JLo) there was one that stood out - Amanda Seyfried's sleek stylish low bun.

Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant, is sharing his styling secrets to get Oscar presenter Amanda Seyfried’s cool, understated look with easy-to-use tips and tricks.

Harry gave Amanda the new Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner in advance as the frizz-fighting formula was essential to smooth and hydrate dry strands and replenish moisture for a nice, smooth blow out.

“These shampoos and conditioners were the perfect way for Amanda to prep her hair,” said Harry. “The look was clean and sleek, so it was important to start the fight against frizz early so that Amanda’s hair would be silky, shiny and totally manageable.”

Harry applied the new Root Awakening Strength Restoring Gel to Amanda’s hair at the roots to help achieve the sleek, flattened shape he was going for.

Using a tail comb instead of a round brush to avoid lift, Harry blew the hair out, combing it flat to the head as he dried.

Harry then used the Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Shape & Shimmer Hairspray section by section to hold the style.

“Amanda has such beautiful naturally blonde hair that I wanted to ensure it looked its best all night and didn’t photograph dark – which some finishing sprays can cause. By using a light hairspray you avoid adding residue or darkening the blonde hair.”

Harry finished by creating an extreme, slick side part and pulling Amanda’s hair back into a bun. He left a little bit of the bun sticking out in a fan, a last minute decision he made to reflect the pattern on Amanda’s earrings.

Oscars 2010 : Jennifer Lopez

JLO is so so pretty but this isn't her best look for me. May be a nice golden tan would have looked good with this pastel shade. The makeup is from the 90's and kinda pale.
