St. Patricks Day - Green Eye Makeup Tutorial

The new camera arrived yesterday and I got to work immediately with some green looks for St. Pat's day ! Gosh, I've thoroughly missed swatching, doing looks and everything else !

As far as the camera goes. I am still not completely convinced with it ( Samsung SL 420S). The face shots are fairly good but product shots are very very bad. Given how that is what I will mostly be doing with it - I am a little worried. Plus the camera was suppose to have Schneider lens but it had Samsung Lens. I will play around a little more and if I'm not convinced it will have to be returned...

This is how I went about doing this look

1. Start off with concealer and set it with some powder.
I used Smashbox HD Concealer & Cover FX Translucent powder

2. Apply a green / black cream shadow all over the lid.
I used Julie Hewett Creme Shadow - Malachite

3. Pat on a dark forest green color all over the lid.
I used Nixie green ( I don't know the shade name )

4. Use a pistachio green along the cease and blend into the forest green
I used Nixie again

5. Apply a white gold shade under the brow as highlight.
I used Julie Hewett Eyeshadow - Silk

6. Apply a green glitter eyeliner along upper lash line & a copper shade along the waterline
I used Urban Decay Glitter Eyeliner- Stagediva & UD 24/7 liner - Lucky

7. Line lower lash line with a hint of both green - forest & pistachio

8. Do your brows, apply mascara and you're done !

For the lips I chose Hard Candy The Painted lady Lip Color Lipstick - Crush. Its a gorgeous warm golden pink . A great shade to pick up form the Hard Candy line ! Its very moisturizing and has lots of pigment to it !

Another Eliza Dushku Inspired Look

This shoot with Eliza Dushku is just super sexy ! This is another look from the same shoot as a previous look I did on the blog - except this time its way darker and way more sexier. I love the black and gold contrast ! Wouldn't you say its perfect for a sexy night out !

I got inspired tried something similar. Except, I toned it down & I didn't do as much black as Eliza.
Lemme know if you'd like a tutorial. I'll have it up soon !

I'd pair it with this warm nude like Estee Lauder Long Wear Lip Liner in Spice. Its creamy & pigmented enough to work as lipstick. For added oomph you could add a hint of golden nude gloss like Julie Hewett - Tish.

Or you could do what I like the best - go for a cool plummy pink like Estee Lauder Plum Amethyst Lipstick with some clear gloss on top. Why not go sexy eye & lip !

Simple Easy Wedding Eye Makeup

This is the tutorial for the Simple & Easy Wedding Eye Makeup Look I had up yesterday ! You'll see how easy it is !

The stars of the show are these three products :

Urban Decay Matte Primer Potion - Eden
Sally Hansen Natural Beauty by Carmindy Instant Definition Eye Shadow Palette - The Storm
Urban Decay Sparkle Dust - Bobby Dazzle

1. Apply concealer all over your lids and under eye

2. Apply Eden primer on your lid.

Keep it just on the lid . It is very similar to MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre and provides an excellent base for a champagne / soft white look like this one.

3. With a flat brush lay the soft white shade from the Storm trio all over the lid.

4. Line the apply lash line with a black eyeliner pencil. Keep it as close to the lashes as possible.

5. Follow with the charcoal shade from the Storm trio along the line with a small shadow brush like Smashbox #20

6.Line the waterline with the same black pencil. I used Julie Hewett Hue Pencil - Black

7. Follow by smudging the charcoal shade along lower lash line.

8. Gently blend the charcoal shadow into the off white shade on the outer corner of the eye. Work with little shadow at a time and use a fluffy brush like Smashbox #10

9. Wet a flat eyeshadow brush, load it up with the Urban Decay Sparkle Dust - Bobby Dazzle and pat it over the center of the lid.
This adds some shimmer to the otherwise matte look and an incredible wet look that looks spectacular under indoor , artificial lights.

10. Do your brows ( I do this first always). Curl lashes, apply mascara and you're done !

Eliza Dushku Inspired Makeup Look

Though the look was mega sexy , its a fairly easy look to do by yourself.
Find more pictures from this shoot, along with lip look recommendations to go with all this sexiness ! Now onto the tutorial...

Products Used & Description
1. Moisturize eyes, apply concealer all over lid / under eyes.
2. Make a V at the outer corner using an angled eyeliner brush and a black cream / gel eyeliner.
3. Using a flat brush lay the cream liner all over the lid. Lay it on fairly thick so its intense.
4. With a flat eyeshadow brush lay the deepest satin / matte black eyeshadow all over the lid. Now bland the shadow onto the crease using very little product and a fluffy brush. Very little blending.
5. Using a tiny flat eyeshadow brush apply a shimmery gold on the inner corner and along the lower lashline. Make it a thick.
6. Now run over the black shadow over the gold. And then some gold over the black - I am not kiddin !
7. Line the waterline and tightline with a black pencil.
I used Julie Hewett hue Pencil in black - its really black ! Loves it !
8.. Do your brows, lashes and you're done !

Easy Wedding Eye Makeup Look

I've had this picture of Eliza Dushku forever ! Aint it simply gorgeous ! The hair, the nude lips and the dress - just perfect.

I was inspired by the eye makeup in this picture to do a soft eye make up look for brides. It is great for any other occasion too ! For a look similar to Eliza's I'd pair the champagne & black eye look with Illamasqua Blush in Create and a nude Lipstick like Julie Hewett Lipstick - Biba (swatch below)

Easy Almost Smokey - Black / Gray Eye Look With Estee Lauder Black Smoke Palette

The Estee Lauder Black Smoke Eyeshadow Palette was released December 2009, with their Blacker Than Black Collection. It is easily one of the best smokey eye palettes out there ! The shades are all very well pigmented , come in a sophisticated gold/blue EL packaging and the shades are classic black/gray.

Shades : satin bone, shimmery gray, satin gray, shimmery black.

This is an easy black/ gray almost smokey eye look I did with this palette. I used no eyeliners ! Well none other than the flesh colored one along the waterline. I think its less smokey and light enough for a regular evening ! What say you ?

Would you guys like a tutorial for the look ?

On my lips I went with Estee Lauder Long Wear Lip Liner in Spice, applied all over my lips. Its a gorgeous gorgeous shade if you're looking for a brown-rose kinda nude color on pigmented lips !

This is Spice with Julie Hewett Lip Lush in Tish - pretty sheer golden nude.

What is your guilty pleasure song ?
I'm almost embarrassed to say it but mine has got to be Get Low by Lil Jon. Lord I dare not sing it out loud if there is anybody else around me. The lyrics are bad bad bad.

Today I'm in a somber mood so I'm grooving to Usher - You Got It Bad...Its been heard over ten times now.

Usher ...Hmm...what a beautiful beautiful man..

Picture Tutorial On Olive Green Eye Look With Julie Hewett Eye Shadows

As promised this is the post on the step by step picture tutorial for this Olive Green Eye Look. Gather up some patience - this is a long one !

Eye Shadows

These are the powder shadows I used for the look. All are by Julie Hewett.

L to R : Vita, Silk, Zen, Olive

Brushes

I have listed the brushes I used, as well. Some brushes I used were from Smashbox. A couple were from an unknown brand I picked up at Big Lots long long ago. But I have substituted with a similar brush from Smashbox simply because it makes it easier for a reader to stop at a brand and get a look at all the brushes instead of jumping from brand to brand.

Step By Step Tutorial

1. Start off with clean moisturized eyes. apply concealer all over eyes and under the eyes hiding dark circles.
Product : Cover Fx Conceal Fx - Light
Brush : Smashbox Concealer Brush #12

2. Set the concealer with translucent powder.

5. Blend a pistachio green color with the olive green, moving upwards and outwards along the crease.
Product : Julie Hewett Eyeshadow - Zen
Brush : Smashbox Crease Brush #10

6. Apply highlighter under the brow, along the brow bone.
Product : Julie Hewett Eye Shadow : Silk

Product : Julie Hewett Rose Mascara

That's it ! In less that ten steps we have a pretty pretty olive green eye look !

Finished Look :

Custom Palettes :

Over at Julie Hewet they have a new system where you can make your own custom palettes by choosing shades you love to fit into the palette of your choice. Its just like build your own burger except its not edible.

Very few things that are not edible interest me. So, listen up !

The palettes are the gorgeous black and white magnetic ones. So much cuter than the regular all black palettes that everybody else makes.

There are three kinds of palettes available : single pan, 2 pan and four pan. In my two pan palette I plan on adding Silk - a bone colored shade with a tiny hint of gold shimmer. Its the best highlighter shade ever and Vita - a brown taupe shade that makes my eyebrows look happy ! I can then drop it into my purse and have gorgeous highlighted brows all day long !

Ooooofffffffff...its over ! Its all over ! You can go ahead lose that patience now !
I just did.
